Ah, no. [ Let him try to clarify. ] You can have eight linkshells total and each houses over a hundred or so, but again linkpearls cannot have more than eight channels.
So if to say I would like to contact my second in command only, then it would use one linkshell out of eight.
So, if you had a channel for personal contacts, work, general chatter, jokes, that’d be four used up and then your personal buddy channel with your second would be a whole extra fifth channel.
[ huh. ]
Seems both kinda convenient and not, at the same time.
What a innovative device this ARCUS is. It should come to no surprise that we have nothing like that on my star, at least that I am aware of. The only article liken to this I can recall is the Soulstone.
'Tis not ominous as you think. The stone doesn't house a soul, but instead memories of its previous owner, thus their prowess becomes yours. Many Soulstones are ones that are passed down generations, though some are newly crafted.
Mine was one of the Paladin, bequeathed to me by my late father, likewise from his father to him and so on.
So... it just embues you with the powers of the previous wielder?
Doesn't that mean there's a limited number, or that people wielding them are just going to get more and more powerful until it becomes a problem? [ real "please stop praying for grandpa" energy ]
Nothing so puissant. More of their memories, which would make learning skills and abilities come easier than without. It cannot bestow unto you strength of eld, only their knowledge.
It doesn't house vivid memories. More so I'd say that come to you innately, hence the new abilities you better understand. Some may have multiple, but they must be skilled. New masteries cannot be cheated by Soulstones.
But the person it took those memories and skills from -- like, surely all mastery comes from a handful of people who achieved that mastery in the first place. They make a soulstone, it's passed down, and gathers more knowledge the more people that own and use it. Right so far?
If you only had, like, five initial masters of the discipline though, there'd only be five stones in existence, unless those original people could make as many as they wanted?
[ CROW IS JSUT CONFLATING THE POWER which is interesting to Aymeric cause they're such normal things. ]
The Soulstone has its limits so it would never reach that height. See it as a guide that can assist you, but in the end you must train and make the effort. They can be procured as well, hence they're not uncommon.
Unless you're trying to get a clear answer out of the situation. Ah well, it sounds like it all works for you back home, so that's all that really matters.

The linkpearl is the device itself, consider a linkshell a contact group.

Your star harbors phones, I presume?

You’ve only got so much ear space though, right?
Yeah. Not quite like the ones we got here, but the functions are basically the same. This one isn’t quite as versatile though.

But, no. ARCUS's back home can enhance your abilities in combat.

I do not mind some confusion in a discussion. 'Tis entertaining at times.
