... I wish I knew, but I know there are worse in other places and stars. Ishgard's highborn and lowborn banded together when we faced a common enemy and, despite exploitative ploys, the nobles see it their duty to protect the populace. What needs to change is attitude—which is changing. In the end, there is hope.

I do believe my father and his predecessors were complacent in the never-ending war, so I agree with you.
I'm making the same assumptions your friends must have, if they've accepted you in any way after whatever you've done. My opinion can change, of course. If you misbehave overmuch, 'twould call for reevaluation.
[ A joke, but it's true in some ways. ]
Say, do you not think we should recount some more... Let's call them "humorous" stories?
[ Aymeric is stubborn in his own way. Anyway, he clears his throat. ]

In spite of what should have been an effortless trip, Estinien fell off of the chocobo... And I... Did not notice until I had already reached one of the camps. I searched for him endlessly, but the snow had blanketed the lands thrice over. How I stumbled upon him was that I tripped over his covered body and he made an annoyed groan.

Estinien would have said he won. You need to account for that in your narrative.

Okay but… would he have been right to claim he won?
