I have similar concerns... The residents are colorful themselves yet they put little stock in identity. Exactly what part of us is being drained? Is it lifeforce? Or will it be individuality?
Yes... That's another issue. From the way they spoke, it doesn't sound like they were born here. But they don't seem to remember, or even care. If it's because of the colors, are we destined to end up like them?
A conundrum we find ourselves in... These abilities will be useful for survival, so I cannot discourage usage.

We do not know enough to make a conclusion, but to believe in all that is given to us would be foolish when the residents' memories leave us with scruple. I dare not advise we stop interacting with them, neither should we raise arms. They could very well be suffering themselves.
Right... If they're telling the truth, they could be in the same situation as us. And we'll need them to learn more about how this world works, anyway. It's stupid to cut ties with someone you can still use.
