... People can move on while you're still in their thoughts, Crow.

You told me before that the results of your actions were unfavorable and you were where you were because of it... Doing what you can. It almost sounds like you changed paths.
[ he can't hear him over the sound of his emotional suppression, thanks. ]
The unfavourable stuff ended a while ago. Can't speak for everyone, but for me it wasn't the best outcome. As things stand though, there are a lot more pressing things happening that I've kinda agreed to keep my attention on, but... I owe some people. That's more "why".
[ too much typing other things, only spelling errors now. ]
Not really, but we'd be here forever. They're the kind of people who friendship speech you into a corner and will always look for a third path if given two options that suck.
I don’t know if I’d be as complimentary as that. They’re stubborn and idealistic, and somehow that keeps working out for them… in most situations, if not all of them. Eventually.
[ didn’t work when they wanted to drag him back to thors but whoops. that’s on him. ]
… “A smile better suits a hero”, huh? What was your shared dream?
For people like them, if there is a will there is a way. Some will die for what they believe to be right and just.
[ me, hei, pulling out my gun at you ]
... We dreamed of a better Ishgard where one's birth need not dictate what they have and what they have not. A better Ishgard where children need not the surname "Greystone," denoting their origins from illicit affairs. I was fortunate that my family bestowed upon me their name, but he... I believe the lady of the house loathed him so, though his father, Viscount of Fortemps Manor, loved him dearly.
He was a noble soul who deeply believed and lived in the knight's duty to serve. One of our brightest and finest ever to be born.
... I wish I knew, but I know there are worse in other places and stars. Ishgard's highborn and lowborn banded together when we faced a common enemy and, despite exploitative ploys, the nobles see it their duty to protect the populace. What needs to change is attitude—which is changing. In the end, there is hope.
[ Sometimes! Hard work and death pays off! ]
I do believe my father and his predecessors were complacent in the never-ending war, so I agree with you.

Before I know it, you'll jest that you're also dead to follow your family's trend.
[ But yes, he means gramps. Is gramps deada. ]

I could. This place keeps dragging that out of me at the worst moments. Might as well get something out of it.
[ haha. ]
Pops got ill about six months after he was ousted from his position as Mayor. He didn't really have it in him to fight it.

You have my condolences.

... It was a long time ago. It's fine.
[ it's not but it's not tuesday so there's no fire to call him out. ]

... It could be a millennia ago and it can be not fine, Crow. Death weighs as it should.

It has to be, or we'd all stop moving. Don't worry, I've got plenty to be focusing on that isn't... y'know. All that.
At least, I do nowadays.

When we were children, I was oft in low spirits, but he would raise them high. Would say "a smile better suits a hero." We shared the same dream.

What is it with heavily enforced class systems ruining lives wherever they go, huh?
[ he thinks of erebonia, and the mess that was in before the civil war. ]
The only people that are happy in them are the people that benefit the most from what they're enforcing.

It's bad we let things get to the point they do before something drastic has to happen to change or fix it, right?

Don't you agree, Crow?
